May I use pictures, videos, stories,
or other content from BMXTRIX?
Why isn't this site updated on a more
regular basis?
Can I save the videos to my computer?
-
There are a number of ways to download
videos and save them to your computer- the easiest way is to right click on
the link to the video and choose (Internet Explorer) "Save Target
As" or (Netscape) "Save Link As" which will give you a pop-up
window that allows you to save the video right on YOUR computer for easy
viewing anytime you want.
-
For some reason some browsers do not
give you the "Save Target As" option to you - In this case you can
get the program Go!Zilla
for free and download the videos using that program. NOTE:
Go!Zilla also allows you to stop the download and restart it later in case
you get disconnected or need to use the phone.
Why can't I see the videos?
-
You MUST have QuickTime
3.0 (or newer) to view the how-to
videos. It is free and takes about 30 minutes to download.... If you
are viewing newer videos than you need the newest version of Windows
Media Player which is also free. The
price is right- Most NEWER computers come with it!
-
If you have QuickTime and/or Windows
Media Player and are still having problems make sure you are connected to
the Internet the first time you view a video. Sometimes this is
required so that the program can get exactly what it needs to play the
video.
-
Some computers STILL have problems
viewing videos. Unfortunately, as all computers can behave slightly
differently there is nothing that BMXTRIX can do to correct this problem.
When I try to view a video I get an error
message- "Proper decompressor could not be found" -WHY do I get
this?
I submitted a link but have not seen it
added to the site yet- Why?
I submitted a link and received a 'poor' rating- Can you review
it again?
How do you get videos on your site?
-
All videos, images, stories, and words
are ORIGINAL... Not necessarily to the webmaster but from others who
have contributed as well. Videos are shot on site at contests and are
captured into the PC using a video capture card- then the videos are edited
with Adobe Premiere/Ulead Media Studio. If YOU want to do videos plan on spending about
$200.00 at least to buy the capture card (with software).

Where does BMXTRIX content come from?
-
BMXTRIX gets the content on
the site from going out ourselves and getting it or by visitors to
the site submitting it to us.
-
Content we get ourselves
requires us to go to contests and other events, make phone calls,
create videos, shoot photos, and do a lot of editing prior to even
having something to put on the website.
-
Content that others submit is
sent through one of the Submissions
Forms and is usually up on the site within 24 hours of receiving
it. All content that others submit BMXTRIX tries to check for
accuracy prior to allowing it to show up on the site.
What is a freecoaster and how does it work and which ones are
good?
-
A freecoaster is just like a freewheel
(that means you CAN pedal backwards without the brakes being
activated!). The big difference is that when the bike rolls backwards
the pedals do NOT move.
-
If you don't understand- Then
get on your bike (any 10 speed or mountain bike will do as well)...
Now while sitting on the bike roll it backwards a few feet- The CRANKS
WILL MOVE! There is nothing you can do to stop them from moving.
-
A freecoaster allows you to set your
pedals where you want them and a clutch mechanism inside will automatically
disengage the cranks and they won't shift backwards.
-
The best one currently available seems
to be the Nankai Pro (NOT the regular Nankai!), the BMXTRIX designed Haro
Turbine hub is a good choice for 14mm sealed bearings. The Primo Bomb has had
really bad problems. The Jad hubs are good as well- They are the
old Suntour Coaster Brake (pedal back brakes) converted to a high quality
freecoaster.... BUT- you should know how to work on them.
-
The Tech
Section of the site will include freecoaster maintenance tips.
What is the best bike for flatland, overall riding, or street?
-
Bikes are VERY much a personal
preference- This site currently recommends the new Haro Revo as the best
flatland 'starter' bike- make sure you get it with 48's and not mag
wheels. It's about $200.00 and a lot of bike for the buck.
-
The 2001 Haro Master is currently the number
one recommendation for a FLATLAND SPECIFIC bike. This bike will work nicely as an all around riding
bike. The 2001 Hoffman Bikes EP is also a good deal but the high end
EP cost just as much as the Haro and does not come with as good of
componentry.
-
For street there must be about 50 good
complete bikes available... So this is up to individual riders more
than anything else... S&M has a VERY good reputation for quality
though.
-
If you are building a bike up from
scratch and are looking for a top notch frame/fork combination then there
are several current standards that are used by riders. Quamen and Ares
are both excellent for riders of 'average' height or smaller. The
Infinity Alter Ego is probably the best frame/fork for bigger guys.
