Okay, you've learned rock walks and maybe even G-turns now it is time to learn a trick that is very fun to do and
see. It only takes about half a second to complete after spending three or four
months perfecting the trick. The front wheel 540 is a 1 1/2 spin (or more) (or less)
on the front wheel while standing on the pedals. You use your brakes (almost) the
entire time you are spinning.
- While traveling at a medium/slow pace riding normally on your bike turn to the left and
then turn/jerk the bike VERY hard and quickly to your right very similar to how you would
do it for a G-turn.
- The main difference between this trick and a G-turn is that you use the brakes a lot
more and you lean the bike to the right a lot more and you snap the back end of the bike
around a lot harder and higher for this trick.
- As soon as you jerk the bike around you can grab the brakes for a moment. It is
easier to generate more spin though if you DON'T grab the brakes and just let the front
wheel try to dive bomb underneath you and toss you face first.
- As soon as the bike peaks and starts to go over grab the brakes HARD. If you have
done the snap around perfectly the bike will be balanced in a near perfect circle over the
front wheel and spin between one and two and a half times (360-900 degrees) around in a
circle on the front wheel.
- If you start to fall backwards you can let go of the brakes for a moment to try to get
the bike centered over the front wheel. But- If you start rolling back in a G-turn
you did not lean over the bars or snap the bike around enough.
- BE READY- The bike will fall forward a zillion times when learning and even after you
have learned this trick. Be ready to jump forwards off of the pedals to catch
yourself and keep yourself from falling.
- Just like with G-turns, let the back wheel fall to the ground and pedal away to ride
out.
As was mentioned about a million times this trick is very similar to G-turns and hence
has almost no combinations that will allow you to ride into the trick. You can still
link this trick into other tricks by leaning forward and trying something before the bike
comes to a complete stop. It is all in your imagination.
