This is a great scuffing trick that links into and out of some of the more
advanced barflip and rolling tricks that are possible. It is possible to
do big jumps into coasting wheelchairs (wheelchair glide) or to do easier tricks
like tailwhips and end up in a wheelchair. The trick itself is not very
difficult to do but riding in and riding out offer a WORLD of possibilities to
creative riders.
For this version you should be very comfortable with riding backwards as well
as being comfortable with scuffing from tricks like track
stands. If you
have learned 180 rollbacks or at least infinity rolls it would help.
- Begin by riding backwards sitting on your handlebars at a very slow
speed. - You can ride INTO this however you would like.
- Put your right foot (on the left pedal) down and take your left foot off
the pedal and put it on the front right peg. (because the bike is
backwards to you this is the front peg that is currently on YOUR left.
- Before you take your left foot off the pedal you will probably have to
hold onto the seat with your right - or left - hand. For THIS example
you will use your right hand to hold the seat.
- Now begins the hard part- Take your right foot off the pedal and put
it right above the front wheel. This is the area between the top of
the front wheel and the frame.
- Press the center of your right foot into the top of the front wheel.
IF YOU ARE GOING TO FAST YOU WILL FLIP OVER BACKWARDS!!!!!!
- As soon as your right foot is pressed against the tire the back end of the
bike should come off the ground by about a foot. You do not have
brakes available to you if you are holding the seat with your right hand so
you MUST be comfortable with scuffing.
- Press down on the front wheel so that the wheel begins rolling backward
(the direction you are facing!). SCUFF the front wheel so that the
bike remains upright.
- Control your side-to-side balance by adjusting your weight ever so
slightly over the frame.
- NOTE- Learn to scuff this trick on it's own (as with ALL scuffing tricks)
before riding in or out!
- Once you are comfortably rolling along you are ready to ride out which is
the hardest part of the trick.
- Lean slightly forward so that the rear tire begins to fall to the ground.
- As SOON as you are falling forward put your right foot on top of the top
tube of the bike- near the seat tube.
- Take your right hand off the seat and put it back on the left grip.
- Take your left foot off the right front peg and put it on the right pedal
(the one easiest to reach).
- If you need to- grab the brakes and put both feet on the pedals and begin
pedalling away- You are STILL riding backwards- as you were at the
beginning of this trick so if you can't ride backwards- you probably aren't
riding out.
- If you can- try to learn to NOT grab the front brakes so that you won't be
dependant on them to ride out of this trick....
- Once you are riding backwards turn around as you normally would so that
you are riding normally and ride out!
This is easily one of the most difficult scuffing tricks on this list to ride
out of. While some people may find them a breeze to scuff- they may find
it takes many months to get the ride out consistent. It should be noted
that there are MANY different ways to ride out of this trick. As well-
once you get better at scuffing wheelchairs you should try to coast them.
WITHOUT USING YOUR BRAKES!!!! If you can coast them well then try to throw
your right leg OVER the handlebars while you are coasting (this is a t-glide)
grab the front brakes with your right hand and twist around into a funky
chicken. That is not a very difficult thing to do if you have funky
chickens wired and offers a unique looking variation to riding out.
